LS Therapies

BA Hons Counselling Professional

Welcome to LS Therapies.

Hi, I'm Louise. Firstly I'd like to thank you for taking a moment to stay here and consider who I am, what I do, and the methods I use that help us, in helping you!

I became a counsellor because of the struggles I faced earlier in life. Back then, I too chose to explore therapy, and set out on a journey in finding who I though would be the right fit. Making the choice to confide in a private therapist is what I believe for me, to be the best decision. My personal experiences have enabled me to connect and empathise with people in a caring and non-judgemental way and align closely with my approach when working with clients. Person-centred is at the core of my counselling practice. Together with additional skills gained in training I am able work integratively, which means I get to use a variety of modalities that best suit your needs.

There are different ways we can approach therapy, but my core approach is Person-Centred. This means that you are at the heart of our work together. I offer you a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, at your own pace, and feel heard and understood. We work together to explore what feels right for you and what you need from therapy.

Alongside this, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Transactional Analysis (TA). Each offers a different perspective, and we can use elements of these approaches depending on what may be most helpful for you.

Sometimes, it can be important to look back and understand how your experiences have shaped you, your relationships and the patterns you may find yourself repeating. Psychodynamic therapy gives us the opportunity to explore some of these deeper influences and make sense of feelings or experiences that may be difficult to understand.

At other times, you may want to focus on what is happening for you in the here and now. CBT can help you notice the links between the way you think, how you feel and how you respond, while developing practical ways to approach situations differently.

Transactional Analysis can be particularly helpful when exploring relationships and the ways we communicate with one another. It can help us understand the roles we can fall into, why we may react in familiar ways, and how we might develop healthier and more fulfilling ways of relating to ourselves and others.

You don't need to know which approach is right for you before we begin. That's something we can discover together. I will listen to what has brought you to therapy, what you would like to change and what feels most important to you. From there, we can draw on whichever approach, or combination of approaches, feels most helpful.

Ultimately, therapy is about you; your experiences, your needs and your journey. My role is to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself, finding your own way forward and making changes that feel meaningful to you.

You may come to therapy during a difficult period, or you may simply feel ready to understand yourself more deeply and continue growing from a positive place. Wherever you are in your journey, therapy can provide the space to reflect, develop and move forward in a way that feels right for you.

People come to counselling for many different reasons; perhaps you are experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood or panic, struggling with relationships, family or work, or trying to cope with grief, loss or a difficult life change. You may be dealing with trauma, addiction, low self-esteem or confidence, or simply feel stuck and unsure of what comes next.

Equally, counselling doesn't have to be about something being wrong. You may want to strengthen an already healthy mindset, build greater self-awareness, develop your resilience, or explore how you can continue to grow and get more from life.

Whatever brings you to therapy, we can work together to understand where you are now, recognise what you need, and explore the possibilities for positive and meaningful change.

Session Information

Session Information

Initial Consultation

For us to begin to get to know one another, to ease any initial nerves and provide an opportunity to ask any questions, I offer a free initial 15-minute telephone call. This also allows for us to see if we are both happy to continue before starting any therapy sessions.

My aim is not to sell you therapy, rather to ensure you are comfortable talking to me. If you are comfortable, hopefully you will open up more and that is where the healing can begin.

Therapy Sessions

Sessions tend to be on a weekly basis; generally at the same date and time, however I also offer fortnightly sessions.

I understand the needs of others are very much individual, which is why I offer open ended sessions, allowing for as many sessions necessary, giving you the best opportunity to fully meet your goals. With this, I also offer short term which can help with specific areas. This is something we may speak about during our initial telephone call.

One therapy session is equal to sixty minutes long.
